Found a way to cure this problem drill 1/8 inch hole on bottom of pipe in the mufflered section 3 inches in towards center. The drill bit will pass through the outer shell then the center tube. Remove drill and redrill outer shell with 3/16 drill bit. Next run a #8 stainless steel 2 1/2 inch long screw and tighten. I put 1 in the front and 1 in the rear of each side pipe. Annoying rattle gone.

It works took it out and run the hello out of it today with 100 shot of nitrous on. No more rattling. Was to the point of cutting them open to fix and weld back together. Easy fix and will let you all know it it does nt stay.

Well I am now to the point of cutting them open and seeing if I can gut them and maybe slide a glass pack or something in them. I will be dammed if I am going to hear them rattling @%(^ing pipes this year. Have any of you ever cut yours open wish I could find a damaged 1 or small camera to look down the insides 1st.

Now that we have a local guy to re-coat your pipes, why don't you by a new muffler/glass pack, cut the old one out, re-weld the new one in, and get your sidepipes re-coated?

what I am thinking is to gut them and slide new muffler inside or just keep empty. mark are yours empty do they have any baffling inside

I used the screw trick, and it worked on mine. Interested in these if they work.

screw trick worked for about 1 month I think the nitrous is root cause, the packing blows out or gets smaller and the rattle is back - have to call and get lenth- also looking at dynomax bullet mufflers to weld in place. Hookers sidetube slip-in mufflers are 45 inchs long so now its back to the idea of dynomax bullet mufflers, did find out 1 thing hooker makes fact five exhaust and sold exclusively to them - they would not give me any part #s for you guys

So, you are talking cutting out your muffler and replacing it, right? The screw I put in has been in there four about 2 months. Withstood Muncie and 15 passes :D Maybe you didn't get a good bite on the arrestor inside. ?

I don't know what rattle you guys are talking about, but I have a sneeking suspicion based on the way my pipes used to look is that there isn't anything inside mine to rattle.:rolleyes:

fibre glass wrapped tube through center after a while the fibre glass starts breaking down and tube loosens rattling at ends &%$@ it cutting mine apart and getting rid of those dam tubes.
