Corner Balance / Scale Play

This afternoon, I was treated to multiple Cobras in my driveway as we played with corner weights.

After you guys left, I re-read the article on corner weights and determined the most important thing is the "cross-balance" of the car. LR-RF and RR-LF

Ideal is 50/50. If it goes over 50%, you may experience understeer in that direction. What you don't want is a major difference because it makes the car handle differently, depending on the direction you're turning.

I've sent out some notes to determine what tolerance is acceptable. After you left, I continued to play with my car and got it to 49.8% / 50.2% Don't know if that is good enough or not (suspect so, but I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so I don't know)

Thanks for all the help and being a gracious host. I had a great time and relaxed. While my car isn't quite where your's is in the balance, it's closer than it was before and I think it's probably good enough for now. Oh and I was right. We left 15-20 minutes after I got home and I grilled 18 hamburgers and some hot dogs for everyone. :) Thanks again.

Thanks Paul. I may want to use the scales prior to Putnam to get mine closer. You were doing the same as me, I came across a similar article, but you've got it covered.

Paul, let me know when you are done with the scales. When I get them setup, I would like a small block car to come over and do some weight moving. I was really interested yesterday when Dan sit in Mark's car as a passenger how little it changed the weight distribution.

It sounds like we are going to need to start a list. I spoke with Paul last week and have made arrangements to pick the scales up at the picnic. Would you guys be up for a cruise over to Southern IL to have a few cold ones and weigh some cars? I could get everything leveled up and ready to go. The set up on this stuff is where all the time is spent.

I'll give it a go Dean. I'm sure you've done this before and know what to look for, so will be learning experience for me. I can't come over labor day weekend, but should be able to the 11th or 12th.

I can't on the 12th but we can shoot for the 11th. If someone needs the scales before then, we can make arrangements. I will be done with them early next week and Paul is probably done with them now. So if you can't make it on the 11th, you could use the scales this week or later next week as far as I know.

Ok, so what I'll do is trailer my car over to your place on the 11th, we can play for a bit on the scales, then I'll have enough room to bring them back, assuming you get done with them that day. What time on the 11th? Will take me an hour and a half to get there.

Question, are ya planning on taking the scales to RNG or do you want me to bring them back?

If someone needs them from the club, you can surely take them with you. If you need a place to store them, I can keep them here if it is easier. If they are here, I might through them in the trailer for R&G but it doesn't reaaly matter to me.
