My wife & I R considering getting a different ride. The trade in on our 1 mo. old Malibu w/1400 miles on it is killn us. What R the pros & cons of Craig's List vs Ebay Motors? & Don't even ask me why we're tradn a car w/only 1400 miles. I think I can do better selln it on C's List or Ebay than a trade.

Craig's list: advertises to the local crowd - it's free, it works, and did I mention, it's free. You can upload 4 pictures with your listing. Give it a try, if nothing else, you didn't spend any money.
E-Bay: advertises nationally, you pay to insert the listing, you pay when it sells, you will most likely not sell it the first time you list it if you put a high reserve on it. The buyer will have to arrange for transportation, since most likely, they will be from out of state. Be very explicit about your listing so you don't violate any eBay rules.
I have sold a motorcycle and my previous kit car on eBay, and my wife's Honda Element on Craig's list.
You may also try Autotrader.com - but I found that to be hit and miss (mostly miss). I have only sold 1 car out of 3 I advertised on there (my 2006 mustang).
The local newspaper doesn't work. Nobody reads the classifieds anymore with the advent of the internet...you can list it on STLtoday.com (online version), but again, I could not sell any of my cars on there.
I wouldn't trade another car into a dealership...they are in it to make money, not help you out with selling your car. The have no problem walking away from your trade and the deal if you counter their price. Even with the economy as it is.
Good Luck, and let me know if you need any help. I'm not as technologically challenged as some...:eek::eek:

Oh boy, let me get one of those H/W smilies...http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q234/Hawgwild06/Smilies/friends.gif (holding hands to help you out)...
Try this link: http://stlouis.craigslist.org/car/
At the top of the screen on the far right is a blue hyperlink that says POST
Click it, and follow the directions. Make your headline very catchy and attractive...to gain attention - these all go into one large listing.
My suggestion is, year / make / model / and then a catch phrase..."wife changed her mind"...you get my point.
You can upload 4 photos. When you are done it will ask you to submit it with some contact info...and an automatic email will be sent to you. Once you get the email, follow the directions and click on the link, so your ad will be posted. Also, save the email, as this allows you to edit the listing.

I'm driving to Springfield, Mo. to pick up the new ride. Don't need 7 cars 6 is enough! Malibu is 4 sale. My wife's sister says she's interested. If not, Craig's List is where I'm headed. Will get hit on it but such is life.
