We can't go because we will be in Lebanon that weekend...
But on Saturday the two afternoon legs originating in Viburnum will travel down Iron County Route 1 which is the road leading into our farm. We get notices months beforehand advising us that the the road will be shut down for several hours for this event. Our section will be closed from 4:30 -7 PM.
In past years we set up lawn chairs at our entrance gate / mailbox where there is a long straight followed by a sweeping left hand turn...then a shallow right hand turn and short straightaway.
It was fun to watch and the open exhaust reverberate for miles through the woods.
Some of the cars are so-so but a few cars and drivers are very impressive. It's worth a trip to watch...
Although we won't be there...for those who might like to watch the Saturday afternoon runs...we can provide easy directions to our gate where you can park. Between the gate and the road and on the electric company right of way is plenty of good viewing area. You just need to show up before they close the road, stay clear of the action and remain parked for the duration.

I want to go,I want to go, can I drive please!!!! I work that Friday but I will see if I can get off. I would really love to try that, when I was about 12 I had a beater that I used to tear up the bottom roads with, loved power sliding the corners.

Rich, still up for going to this Saturday? Kerry has offered his Farm's driveway as a place to park, maybe look here and see what you think - http://www.100aw.org/spec_guide/2011_100aw_spectator_map_11x17.pdf
Anyone else? Looks like hotel rooms are full, so we will be coming back the same day.

Guys,
Our driveway entrance is at the end of stage 13 on Saturday afternoon. Just be sure to park as close to our red gate on top of the hill as possible as there is not an official spectator viewing point on stage 13.
The best place to set up lawn chairs where you won't be asked to move....is the power line right of way. That spot is elevated and gives you a good view of oncoming vehicles before they make a left hand turn in front of your position.

On our way to Lebanon this morning we were passed by at least 75 race cars on HWY 8. Half in / on trailers and the rest on the street. There was also a staging area at the Steelville City Park. Cars looked good...

Calling Gary this afternoon, not sure we are going to go or not.
EDIT: Decided not to go with what we both have going on tomorrow.
