Default Inspection finished

Officer Green that inspected my car was very helpful in explaining what to take to the DMV in Jefferson City. My car has a new fuel cell and brakes from the prior owner, which I listed on the 551 as repairs done to the vehicle to pass inspection. He asked if I had the receipts from the prior owner which I did not. He drew a single line through the error and signed off on it telling of my mistake. Without the receipts of the repairs listed on the 551 the DMV would have rejected my application. I did have receipts for lower ball joints and tie rod ends that I had done. Mr. Green said my car is being titled as a 1981 car, but a 1965 Ford replica. I did not understand the car being titled that way. I do get to use the historical 1965 plates that I have.

Buddy - you might have some problems with that 1981 notation. You need to get to Jeff City fast.

I went to Jeff City with the 1981 notation on the 551 form from the highway patrol. The girl looked in the reference guide and decided to title the car as a 1965 Ford tudor. I had them change it to a convertible instead of the tudor. They accepted the photo of the 1965 license plate with no mention of any other year stickers under the 65 sticker. The notation that Mr. Green from the highway patrol on the 551 form stated that this car is not a kit car, it is a manufactured car, therefore it should be titled as 1981 Model. The reference guide stated that it has to be titled as the replica that it looks like. Mr. Green stated on the 551 form that it looked like a Cobra Replica. Regardless, I am on the road.....legally.

Thanks for all of the help from you guys in getting the license and title.

And good for you that it was titled as a '65, makes a difference on whether you have to emissions test or not and on insurance.

In Missouri it also means the car is worth very little in terms of Personal Property tax.
