Default January 2010 Car of the Month

January's car of the month features Skip W's FFR #5371. Skip started his build by buying a donor '89 GT Mustang in July of '05. He had the donor stripped and got rid of the donor carcass in October of '05. Although he rebuilt some parts, he replaced most needed items from the donor and performed his own wire diet of the donor harness. His kit was delivered in March of '06. His first drive was in gel coat in September of '06. He disassembled and sent the body off for paint in October of '06 and had the final assembly done with plates by April of 2007.

Some of the car details:
302 EFI
4 into 4 headers
E-303 cam

Power steering
Power brakes
Aluminum radiator
T-5 transmission
3-link rear axle w/ VPM style stiffener
3:27 trac-lock
Tubular upper and lower control arms
PSE 15” wheels
Wipers
Heater
Vintage gauges
Tri-Bar headlights
Trunk drop kit
Cobra Earls vent kit

Rich Obens turn signal kit
Rods pedal covers
Herbs door panels
Misc. Finish line detail parts
Misc. Finish and detail parts from Mike’s Replica parts
Paint by Murrell Feldman – Washington MO
Color GM Olympic white with Ford Medium Royal blue stripes

From his graduation post on FFCo$ra.com "I’m sure I have forgotten some things but, lot’s of small details to truly make this a personal car, and fun to drive! The 300 plus miles I have put on the completed car have been nothing but pure pleasure. This is a car that I have dreamed of since 1965 and after 35 years of being an ASE Master tech, it has finally become a reality of both craftsmanship and passion.
Not to sound like I just won an Oscar, but there are a few people I would really like to thank. Tom Keiser and Mike DeGuire, two local FFR owners here in the area, have been helpful when I needed an extra hand with body install, information and the like. I look forward to cruising with them very soon. Thanks to Murrell for a fantastic paint job. Though it took four months, (all delays unrelated to the car and paint) it was well worth the wait. Most of all I want to thank my Mom. She made it possible, and was also the foundation for my fascination of mechanics. As a kid, I was always taking things apart. I can still remember as a 10 year old, mom and I sitting on the back patio, putting my bicycles multi disc coaster brake assembly back together. Mom will be getting her first ride in the car this month and at 86, she is very excited and can’t wait."

Here's to hoping Mom has had a few rides in that car, and Skip, hope you don't mind that I pulled this off your graduation thread. Anything you want me to pull off, let me know.

Thanks Tim,

I was just getting around to send you some info and found you had it covered.
Mom's had a few rides and the old car has over 11,000 miles on it now and i'm loving every minute of it.
Now when I get up in the morning and I'm getting ready to go to work, I check the weather. If it's no rain, the roadster get's the call. Rain, well the truck get's driven.

Thanks,
Skip

Still looks great Skip! I know you've got some winter upgrades planned and I can't wait to see how it sounds in the spring when it's time to get out again. This was a good reminder for me to take down my 09 calender (reluctantly ) and hang the new one which I just got up and did. Holler if you need a hand with anything.
