Default Muncie Drag Strip Event

Muncie Drag Strip Event
Sunday May 23rd, 2010
10:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern time
Cost: $100 per participating car. $50 deposit to register
Make checks payable to Holley Motorsports and send to 2910 E. 96th St., Suite A, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Contact: Scott Holley sholley911@aol.com

If you've ever thought about taking your car out to the drag strip, this is the time to do it.

A friend of mine knows the owner of the Muncie Drag Strip www.munciedragway.com and has rented the track for a private Cobra event. This originally started out as a Superformance only event but we've opened it up to all Cobra makes. This will be a fully operational day at the track, not a typical rental day. There will be a full track staff, ambulance, spectators, ¼ mile, racing fuel etc.

Tech inspection will be minimal. Just make sure everything is tight on you car and that you're not leaking any fluids. Safety equipment will also be minimal. Snell 2005 helmet, seat belts (with harness preferred but not mandatory) and a catch tank for the cooling system

For those who have always wanted to bring their cars to the drag strip but have been intimidated by the staging process, Christmas tree, how to properly launch etc., Scott (who has a SuperGas car) will provide full instruction with Dave’s (the track owner) assistance. Some will be classroom and some on track. For those who are interested we will have a novice sign up sheet and you will be a pro by the time you are done.

No pressure. No long lines of ricers and late model Mustangs; just your friends and their cars. Run as easy or hard as you want. Practice your shifting under power. Practice a high rpm launch. Play with tuning, tire pressure, whatever. Imagine it - not bench racing but actually sitting in your Cobra watching the "tree" for that
green light (actually if you wait for that you're already behind).

The plan is for people to arrive in Indianapolis on Saturday the 22nd, spend the night in NE Indy area, and then drive to Muncie (30 minutes) Sunday morning. Scott is working on the hotel arrangements and some fill in activities for Saturday afternoon and evening.

We have approximately 25 cars scheduled to attend. Even with 50 cars you'll get as much track time as you want. In addition to Cobras we do have a few true race cars scheduled to make a few runs.

Scott Holley - SuperGas Mopar
Andy Smith - SuperGas Ford Mustang (maybe)
Vince Porcelli - SuperComp Mercury Comet
Scott Holley – SuperGas Mopar (Mopar vs Ford)
Vince Porcelli – SuperComp SuperPro Mercury Comet
Andy Smith – SuperGas Ford Mustang (tentative)
Eddy K. & Chuck – SuperPro Ford Probe
Joe Chrisman – Pro Mod (tentative)

Feel free to either email me stevefehr@musketeergroup.com or call me 314-409-3281 if you have any questions.

I confirmed that there is no charge for spectators. So even if you don't want to race or your car isn't ready, come on over any way.

My money has been sent in. Has everyone else sent their's in? On Friday/Saturday PRIOR to this event, there is a PRO series that will be at the same track. A friend of mine is a mechanic on a Alchol 1/8 mile car and their first event is 5/21 - 5/22 in case you want to go early.

Also, the Kentucky Cobra Club will be nearby at an event in Brown County, we may hook up with them on Saturday 5/22.

Steve,

I'm planning on attending this. I don't know yet whether I'll participate, but I'm going. Some will depend if I have the car ready. Do we know what the hotel setup is yet and how soon do we need to put in our reservations. Thanks for the info.

Don't know if I'll be one or the other yet, thus didn't answer. I'd like to participate. Good enough?
